I have officially dropped out of the NYC Marathon- there are things I am able to do as a New Yorker this weekend that are more important to me.

Please support those who are running. Every single runner deserves to be cheered and celebrated for their hard work, regardless of the circumstances. It is not the runners’ decision to hold Sunday’s race as scheduled.

I applaud you runners, and will be cheering you on from wherever I am.

Instead of running, I’ll be spending my weekend working on relief efforts.

Tomorrow I’ll be with Friends of Firefighters processing donations for those in affected areas like the Rockaways, Breezy Point, and Staten Island.  If you’d like to help out, here are the details: http://hosted-p0.vresp.com/846227/77cd417d72/ARCHIVE

I’m not yet sure where I’ll be volunteering Sunday, but I’ll post info here for anyone who wants to get involved.

Thank you and please, don’t get angry- do something.
